The Emancipation Monument, also known as the "Lincoln Memorial" located in the Lincoln Park of the Capital Hill neighborhood in Washington D.C. The construction of the monument started shortly after Lincoln's death and was completed near the end of the Reconstruction era in 1876. The monument has long been in the center of controversy, for most it exemplified and reflected the ultimate failures of the reconstruction.
