Illustrates the Electric Motors?
An electric motor is basically the reverse of an electric generator. It is a machine which turns electrical energy - AC from the wall or direct current (DC) from a battery - into motion, usually the spinning of a spindle. Recall that an electric current produces a magnetic field around a wire carrying the current - something we call an electromagnet. To produce motion, we can cause the magnetic field created by the electromagnet to interact with a fixed magnetic field surrounding the electromagnet loop. By alternating the direction of the current in the wire loop of the electromagnet, we can reverse the magnetic poles. We can then use the alternating forces of attraction and repulsion between the electromagnet and the fixed magnetic field to turn the spindle.
