Illustrates the concept of bearing capacity of soil?
The concept of bearing capacity of soil is the very essence of design and analysis of shallow foundations. In order to investigate the bearing capacity of a soil we will discuss the way in which a shear failure occurs when the bearing capacity is exceeded. In addition to learning of analytical method for the determination of 1 bearing capacity we will also introduce usage of field plate load test data, the utilisation of penetration resistance data obtained during field exploration for evaluating bearing capacity and the practice of presumptive bearing pressure recommended by Building Codes.
