Soil Textural Classes

On the basis of the proportion of different soil separates present, the soils are classified into different groups called as  soil classes. The soil classes are named according to the separate(s) which contribute the most to the characteristics of the soil. Therefore, the soil textural class names convey the overall textural make up of soils and give an indication of their physical properties. Three broad groups of these classes arerecognised, these are sands, loams and clays.  There are specific textural class names within each of these classes
