a) Assume that you are the director of the Solid Waste Unit of the Ministry of Local Government. Explain how you would undertake a waste audit at the level of a municipality or a district council.

b) Define two parameters needed to undertake a preliminary design of a plastics recycling plant and an anaerobic digestion plant respectively.

c) A certain wastes A of moisture content 40% and bulk density 200 kg/m3 is to be composted. If 100 kg of wastes A is mixed with another wastes C of moisture content 10% and bulk density 200 kg/m3, calculate

i. the quantity of wastes C required to achieve an overall moisture content of 30%

ii. the resulting volume required to compost the mixed wastes
