Assignment Help:

Indicating the name and respective ploidy of each involved cell how can the formation of sperm cells from germ cells be described?

The formation of sperm cells, or spermatogenesis, begins with a germ cell called as spermatogonium (2n) that suffers mitosis and gives birth to the spermatocyte I (2n). The spermatocyte I undergoes meiosis I and produces two spermatocyte II (n) that then undergo meiosis II and make four spermatids (n). Each spermatid undergoes a maturation process known as spermiogenesis and four sperm cells appear.
