Formation of chiasmata, Biology

Assignment Help:

Chiasmata formation takes place where crossing over occurs. Here Chromatid segments are exchanged which contributes to genetic variability. The 46 homologous chromosomes arrange at the metaphase plate followed by disjunction where the 46 chromosomes separate from each other. The result is the formation of two secondary gametocytes which are in diploid state (23 duplicated chromosomes, 2N).
