Force in Two and Three Dimensions - Pressure and Fluids

Pressure is a force exerted over an area and is measured in Pascals (Pa).

P (in Pa) = Force (in newtons) / area (in m2)

If a 750 N person were to accidentally step on your foot, would you rather they were wearing a flat soled sneaker or a narrow spike heel when they hit your foot? Obviously the sneaker because the force would be spread over a much larger area and the pressure at any point of your foot would be much less than if the force is concentrated on just a narrow heel.

Example - If a person who weighs 750 Newtons makes contact with your foot on a heel which is 0.5 cm x 0.5 cm, what is the pressure exerted on your foot?
