Floristic Composition - Qualitative Characters

One of the important qualitative characteristics of a community is its floristic composition. This broadly refers to the kind of species occurring in a community. Here, we would like to make a point.

Most communities are named after the dominant plant species that occur there. You may be thinking that why plants and not animals? The reason is that the plants are stationary; they remain at a particular place throughout their life. In contrast, the animals are mobile and they do not stay at a place for long, so they are not taken as representatives for naming a community.
