For the assignment, you will be required to produce an assignment based on NHS (National Health Service).

The need for change in the health service is rapid and inevitable.  Practice managers and professionals need to meet these challenges and improve services at the same time.

Assess the significance of the developments with reference to changing managerial practice within a major UK organization (the NHS) and effects of budget deficit and cuts. Assess the developing theories of such organizations and to consider the organizational and managerial implications.

Report should be 2000-2500 words.  The deadline for the assignment is 17th April 2011.

Tasks

Task 1a

Suggest and compare how you would explain the concept of organizational structure and culture.

Task 1b

Explain how the relationship between NHS's structure and culture can impact on the performance of the operations.

Task 2a and 2b

Discuss and compare different approaches of management and identify current major trends in management theories for two organisations.

Task 3a

Distinguish between different approaches to the study of leadership and discuss how relevant are they in current business environment.

Task 3b

Explain different motivational theories and their application within NHS organisation.

Task 4a

Distinguish between group task roles, group building and maintenance roles and individual roles.  Give examples for each of these.
