Factors Affecting and Controlling Occupational Health

(i) Walking-Working Surface

Workers must work or move on different surfaces while working. Such - surfaces are characterized by finish, holes and wall openings. The workers might work on specific industrial stairs, certain and portable wooden and metal ladders, scaffoldings which may be both fixed and movable.

(ii) Means of Exit

The employees should have safe, accessible and capable means of exiting the work place or building within any emergency. Such type of exits should be clearly and legibly marked and made known to employees. These exits call for unique design skills for the workplace.

(iii) Movable Platforms

Not all but some types of industries use powered platform to move workers, material and equipment. There may be platforms needed for building maintenance or lifts for workers. In some cases platforms are mounted on vehicles and they can be elevated vertically and rotated in any type of horizontal plane.
