Factor causing parallel overheads, Computer Engineering

Performance metrics aren't able to attain a linear curve in comparison to increase in number of processors in parallel computer. The main reason for above situation is presence of overheads in parallel computer that can degrade performance. The familiar sources of overheads in parallel computer are:

1) Synchronization

2) Cost engaged in inter-processor communication

3) Uneven load distribution

4) Parallel Balance Point
