Explain ZOE-Cements - materials for Root End Filling

a. Two  most widely accepted are: IRM and Super EBA (S-EBA)

b. Both exhibit similar and favorable 

c. Clinically and histopathologically are better than amalgam

d. Properties they have are: 

  • 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12, 14, and 15 "of the Requirements of REF materials written above"
  • Adequate working time,
  • Lack of corrosion or oxidation
  • Not discolor tooth or surrounding tissues
  • Predictable over time.

 

e. Setting time of S-EBA can be unpredictable, and the poder/water ratio has to be correct to ensure a thick, dough-like consistency.
