Explain Virtual Packets.

The router can't transfer a copy of a frame from one kind of network to other since the frame formats be different. More significantly, the router cannot simply reformat the frame header since the two networks may employ incompatible address format.

To overcome heterogeneity, Internet protocol software describes an inter packet format that is free of the underlying hardware. It is termed as virtual packet and can be transfer red across the underlying hardware. This under lying hardware does not recognize or identify the Internet packet format, the protocol software makes and handles Internet packet.
