i) Information reports

  • Presents data without analysis
  • Routine activities - daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Form reports - complaints, accidents etc.

ii) Progress reports

  • Monitors non routine activities

iii) Justification reports / Recommendation reports

  • Presents information
  • Offer analysis
  • Aims to solve problems by evaluating options
  • Offers recommendation

iv) Feasibility Reports

  • Analyzes whether a company should proceed with a plan of action.
  • Should a company invest thousands to expand its Web site?

v) Minutes of Meetings

  • Record of proceedings of a meeting

vi) Summaries

  • Organizes and condense information for quick reading and reference.
  • Example : Executive Summary condenses long reports such as business plan and proposals.
