Explain the Sporangiophores features of Rhizopus?
1. Sporangiophores swell at the tip into a spherical knob like structure called sporangium. It has two zones.
- Central dome shaped zone called columella, and
- Peripheral sporiferous zone in which black spores called sporangiospores are formed. Because of sporangiospores, sporangium appears black at maturity.
2. Sporangiospores are non-motile, colourless or brown, multi-nucleated, globose to oval structure.
