Explain the Insulin

Insulin is a hormone synthesized from the precursor called preproinsulin. Preproinsulin has four peptides. Insulin circulates in the blood in a free state. Plasma levels of insulin are from 20 micro-units per ml during fasting to about 150 micro-units per ml after food.
