Explain the Fork-join
This is primitives in a higher level programming language for implementing interacting processes. The syntax is like this:
fork ; join ;
where is a label related with some program statement, and is a variable. A statement fork label1 reasons for creation of a new process that begins executing at the statement with the label label1. This process is concurrent along with the process that executed the statement fork label1.A join statement synchronizes the birth of a process along with the termination of one or more processes. Fork-Join offers a functionally entire facility for control synchronization.
As we have discussed, page tables map virtual page addresses to physical page addresses. One of the advantages of using virtual addresses is that we can achieve complete separation
Is it probable to have a deadlock involving only one single process? Describe your answer. Answer: No This pursue directly from the hold-and-wait condition.
What is paging? Paging is a memory management scheme that authorizes the physical-address space of a process to be noncontiguous. Paging evades the considerable problem of fi
What are threads? A thread is alike to sequential programs. Single threads have a beginning, sequence and end. At any given point in time during the runtime of the thread there
File System Interface and Implementation The Nachos file system, as distributed, uses a single-level index allocation method for data allocation of files. In the current design,
What is thrashing? It is a method in virtual memory schemes when the processor spends most of its time swapping pages, rather than implementing instructions. This is because o
Question: (a) Modern processors operate in one of two modes: one for the operating system and one for applications. What is the purpose of having these two modes? What are
Define the Scheduling in Multitasking Earlier we learned the concepts and advantages of multitasking. In a system in which one or more tasks( threads or processes) attempt to s
Differentiate between sequential access and direct access method?
What does it mean for something to be thread-safe? By saying that X is thread-safe, we mean that if multiple threads use X at the same time, we don't have to worry about concurrenc
