Explain the Design Criteria Sedimentation basin

Surface Loading rate (or overflow rate), Vo = Q/A (flow rate/surface area)

Detention time t or ? = V/Q (Volume /Flow rate)

Weir loading = Q/L (flow rate/length of weir) ≤ 20,000 gpd/ft

Minimum depth 10 ft and Free Board = 1- 2ft

Width 30-50 ft and length 100-200 ft with a L:W of 3:1 to 5:1 (4:1 typical) for rectangular basins and diameter of less than 200 ft for circular tanks.
