Explain the Combating drug-resistant diseases?

The growth of drug-resistant strains of disease-causing bacteria threatens the current effectiveness of cheap antibiotics. This is chiefly true for tuberculosis, which infects 1/3 of the world's population and has killed more people over the last century as compared to any other disease. Mathematical models can assist to anticipate emergence and spread of drug resistant strains of diseases, and assess different methods for decreasing drug resistance.
