Explain the Anterior Pituitary
The anterior pituitary gland or adenohypophysis consists of three types of cells - acidophils, basophils and chromophores according to their staining characteristics. The anterior pituitary, as already highlighted above, secretes six hormones: growth hormone, thyroid stimulating hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone and prolactin.
