Assignment Help:

Explain polymerisation vinyl chloride and its applications.

PVC and its applications - It is acquired from polymerisation of vinyl chloride in the presence of a catalyst as peroxides at about 500C. The properties are as mechanical strength, flexibility, porosity, electrical and moisture absorption properties can be changed through adding certain materials. PVC has fine mechanical and electrical properties. This is hard and brittle. It resists flame, most solvents and sunlight. It is non-hygroscopic. PVC is widely used as insulation and jacketing material for cables and wires. PVC films, sheets and tapes are used as insulation for conduit pipes and dry batteries.
