Maternal mortality: The maternal death is the death of a woman while pregnant, delivering a baby or within 42 days of the termination of pregnancy, from any reason related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management, but not from any accidental or the incidental causes. Some 585 000 women a year die as the result of the maternal mortality, 99% of them in developing world.
