Explain linear expansion and thermal expansion, Physics

Assignment Help:

A glass mirror used in a mountaintop telescope is subject to temperatures ranging from -15°C to 45°C.

At the lowest temperature, it has a diameter of 5.1 m.

If the coefficient of linear expansion for this glass is 3.0 x 10-6°C-1.

What is the maximum alter in diameter the mirror undergoes because of thermal expansion?
