Instruction Stream and Data Stream
The term 'stream' indicates to a series or flow of either instructions or data operated on by computer. In the entire cycle of instruction execution a flow of instructions from main memory to Central Processing Unit is established. This flow of instructions is known as instruction stream. Likewise, there is a flow of operands between processor and memory bi-directionally. This flow of operands is known as data stream. These two categories of streams are displayed in Figure below.
Thus, it can be stated that sequence of instructions implemented by CPU (Central Processing Unit) structures the sequence of data (operands) and Instruction streams needed for execution of instructions from Data streams.
