Explain General Theory of GravitationThe idea of a gravitational field takes all the gravitational effects of a given mass like Earth and expresses them mathematically as a gravitational field surrounding the Earth. At any point, the gravitational force on a person or spaceship can be computed as its mass times the gravitational field. This same idea is used later with electricity and magnetism.
This reverts back to Newton’s Law of Gravitation. This does not effect how you solve any problems, but it is a mathematical concept that expands the use of this law. In 1915, Albert Einstein took this idea a step further. He explained the motion of bodies by a curvature of three dimensional space which happens around any mass: more mass, more curvature; less mass, less curvature. Any planet or spaceship moves along the contours of this curved space which make it follow an orbit around the Sun. A two dimensional example of this would be if you placed a bowling ball on your mattress. The ball will cause curvature of the surface of the bed and if you roll a tennis ball on the mattress, it will follow the contours of the surface. Additionally his theory predicted that light would be bent when it passed near a massive star. This occurrence has been proven to really happen.
