It is relative speed (V₁) between wheel and the Work piece.
It is expressed in m/sec.

V=Cutting speed=V₁

=πDN₁/1000 × 60

Where D=Diameter of grinding wheel in mm.

N₁=Speed of wheel in R.P.M.
