Explain Cardiac Type of TAPVC (Draining into Coronary Sinus) ?
Initial steps of the operation are the same as described earlier. The right atrium is opened and the roof of the coronary sinus is excised so that it freely communicates with left atrium and fossa ovalis. The resulting large ASD is closed with a pericardial patch. An alternate technique is to enlarge PFO. Then the wall between coronary sinus and left atrium is widely excised. This opening should be made as large as possible. Separate patches are used to close the widened PFO and coronary sinus.
