Evaluate the crippling load, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

A cast iron hollow column, having 100mm external diameter and 80mm internal diameter is used as a column of 2.4 m length. Using Rankine formula, calculate the crippling load, when both the ends are fixed. Take fc = 600N/mm2 and ∝ = 1/1600

(b) Derive a mathematical expression to evaluate the crippling load of a column with both ends fixed.

(c) What is slenderness ratio?
