Differentiate soft magnetic from hard magnetic material, Chemistry

Assignment Help:

Differentiate soft magnetic material from hard magnetic material in respect of hysteresis losses, eddy current losses and domain wall motion with appropriate examples and plots.

Soft magnetic materials should have low hysteresis losses and low eddy current losses. Easy domain  wall  motion  is  key  factor  in  keeping  hysteresis  losses  to  a  minimum. Increasing electrical resistivity of magnetic medium reduces eddy current losses. Hard magnetic materials should retain a large part of their magnetization on removal of the applied field. Obstacles to domain wall motion must be provided in permanent magnets so that energy product high residual induction Br times larger coercive force Hc is large.
