What is the difference between the Atomic Theory and the Kinetic Theory?
Atomic theory is all about structure of an atom, i.e., its composition. Like an atom in general is made up of number of neutrons, protons residing in nucleus and electrons orbiting around the nucleus. Though, kinetic theory deals with the manifestations of gases as molecules suppose that the volume occupied by molecules is negligible compared to the domain and the intermolecular force among molecules is also insignificant. Also assuming that there is a perfectly elastic collision between molecules and among molecules and wall, various macroscopic properties such as pressure, temperature, enthalpy etc are derived. For instance pressure exerted by gas on chamber walls can be derived by computing the momentum exchange of molecules with the wall. Therefore apparently there is no similarity among the two above-mentioned theories.
