Determine the thermal efficiency, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

A combined cycle plant is designed to develop 200MW power. The air is obtained by the compressor at 300K and 1 bar pressure. The maximum temperature of the gas turbine cycle is limited to 800'C. The pressure ratio is 8.

The data for steam plant is as follows:-

The exhaust gas coming out of gas turbine is heated to 800 degree C before entering boiler furnace. Steam is generated at sober and 600 degree C. The exhaust gas temperature is limited to 200 degree Celsius. Suppose pressure is 0.05 bar.

Consider isentropic efficiencies of compressor and turbine, determine the following:-

a) Thermal efficiency of each plant and combined plant.

b) Ratio of air supplied to the compressor to the steam generated in the boiler.
