Give a neat and clean diagram of Heavy water type "CANDU" nuclear power plant and illustrate its working.

The incremental fuel costs for two generating units ‘a and b' of a power plant are given by the following equations

dFa/dPa = 0.065Pa + 25 and

dFb/dPb = 0.08Pb + 20

Where F is the fuel cost per hour and P is the power output in MW. determine :

(a) The Economic loading of the two units when the load supplied by the power plants is 200 MW.

(b) The loss in fuel cost per hour if the load is equally shared by both units.
