Determine the benefits of Object oriented design

OOD also gives reusability, which saves time, costs and productivity gains through direct mapping to properties of Object-Oriented Programming Languages. OOD has been touted as next great advance in software engineering. It promises to decrease development time, reduce the resources and time required to maintain existing applications, to provide a competitive advantage to organizations which use it, and increase code reuse. While potential benefits and merits of OOD are real, excessive hype has leaded those to unrealistic expectations between executives and managers. Even software developers often miss subtle, but profound, dissimilarities between OOD and classic software development.
