Determine normal force exerted on the plate, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

(a) A 50 mm dia. jet having a velocity of 18 m/sec. impinges without shock on a flat plate inclined at an angle to the axis of jet. If the plate is moving at 5 m/sec in the direction of jet, Determine normal force exerted on the plate, work done and efficiency of the plate jet system.

(b) Explain expression for force exerted by jet on vane when it strikes tangentially at one tip of moving vane.
