Describe concept about vibrational modes of carbon dioxide molecule.
Vibrational Modes of CO2 molecule
While excited, the CO2 molecule vibrates as masses joined by a spring there the bond among the atoms is comparable to a spring of spring constant i.e., k. Three normal modes of vibration are there for a molecule as like CO2: the asymmetric stretch mode, the symmetric stretch mode and the bending mode. Demonstrated figure in below is a pictorial explanation of the dynamics of such three modes. Vibrational modes of carbon dioxide molecule are as Symmetric stretching, Bending modes and Asymmetric stretching.
