Describe the Sample of Exponents ?

Imagine, for example, that you are the P.E. coach at your school, and you need to divide one of your classes into teams. Your team has 45 students in it. You want at least 2 but no more than 9 people on each team, and each team must have an equal number of players. How many teams can you create?

Step 1: Make a table showing which numbers between 2 and 9 go into 45 without a remainder.

(45 / 2) = 22 R 1

No

3

(45 / 3) = 15

Yes

4

(45 / 4) = 11 R 1

No

5

(45 / 5) = 9

Yes

6

(45 / 6) = 7 R 3

No

7

(45 / 7) = 6 R 3

No

8

(45 / 8) = 5 R 5

No

9

(45 / 9) = 5

Yes

Since the numbers 3, 5, and 9 evenly divide into 45, the teams can consist of 3 people, 5 people, or 9 people. This result means that you could have 15 teams of 3 people, 9 teams of 5 people, or 5 teams of 9 people.
