Describe Class Ophiuroidea in general way?

Brittle stars have a central disc with five long, thin, flexible arms that can be detached from the body at will in times of danger. Brittle stars take their name from this special characteristic. The arms are also used to move about on the substrate or for swimming. Tube feet that line the arms are used for filter feeding or for gathering food off the bottom.
