The most distinctive representatives of shared memory programming models are thread libraries present in most of modern operating systems. Illustrations for thread libraries are, POSIX threads as applied in Solaris TM threads for solarise, Linux, Win32 threads available in Windows 2000 and Windows NT and Java TM thread as piece of the standard Java TM Development Kit (JDK).
