Define the Reservoirs - Hydraulic System

Typically designed for multiple functions - clean water supply, creating recreational opportunities and flood protection. Reservoirs are created by the installation of dams and levees to restrict and control the flow of water.

For flood control, the amount of water entering the reservoir upstream of a dam may be excessive for short or long durations, however, because the water can be stored and then released at a steady, controlled flow rate downstream of the dam, the protection of persons and property can be managed.
