Meaning of Behaviour Change Communication
Now day's very common term used for giving health education to people and for giving information to bring change in behaviour is Behaviour Change Communication (BCC). Behaviour change communication is not a luxury, it is necessary as it ensures that the diabetic patient and their families to have access to accurate information about the disease, its complications, treatment, advantages of life style modification, available health care services. Information alone is insufficient to support behaviour change. Influencing healthy behaviours and creating a supportive social environment requires that we stimulate a desire for learning and participation of patient, family and community. This type of behaviour change communication and social mobilization will work when actions, messages and materials are planned with a goal in mind to educate people about diabetes and how to take care and where to go etc.
