Q. What are the major events of the second mitotic period?
The second mitotic period is the metaphase. In metaphase the following events occur condensed chromosomes bind in their centromere region to the spindle fibers and get concentrated in the middle of the cell the formation of the mitotic apparatus is finished. Metaphase ends with the breaking of the binding of identical chromatids and then anaphase starts.
