Define the components in the STEP standard

There are many components in the STEP standard.

(i) The first component discusses the purpose of the standard. It contains :

(a)  an overview describing the fundamentals of the entire standard,

(b)  EXPRESS is a formal language for specifying the information structures that are required to define the product model of STEP.

(c)  Framework for product modeling in which the basic methods of modeling are described.

(ii) The second component defined standards for the implementation of STEP. It contains physical file implementations which define the rules according to which the data structures defined in EXPRESS are mapped on a segmental data file.

(iii) The third component specifies the framework for conformance testing. This segment defines the rules according to which an implementation is tested for standard conformity.
