Define Helping Verbs

How do I turn a statement into a question?

Helping verbs help the main verb change form and tense. You can change a statement into a question by using a helping verb and changing the word order. This is called a change in form.

Examples
1. You studied physics.
"Studied" is the verb.

Did you study physics?
"Study" is the main verb; "did" is the helping verb.

2. My friend takes karate.
"Takes" is the verb.

Does my friend take karate?
"Take" is the main verb; "does" is the helping verb.
