Glucose metabolism following infection is, however, complex as hypoglycemia and diminished hepatic glucose production has also been seen in patients.
Altered Protein metabolism: There is increased proteolysis and nitrogen excretion resulting in negative nitrogel1 balance following an infection. Amino acids flow horn skeletal muscle is accelerated in patients with sepsis.
