These are essentially programming frameworks, and can offer good storage and retrieval systems. They are mainly intended for programmers to interact with and need a programmer in order to make them usable to libraries. This is specially applicable in case of network and hierarchical models. DBMS in general terms, have many' attractions for the librarian wishing to implement automation on microcomputers. There are three types of DBMS available to, a micro-computer They are: file or data management systems, relational DBMS and network a hierarchical DBMS. Of these, the first two types are easy to comprehend and do not call for intense Knowledge in programming for developing library applications using them.
