Data Handling and Research Methods:
The dataset encompassing 130 participants contains several variables measuring detrimental health related behaviours referring to the use of 'recreational' and illicit drugs e.g. caffeine, alcohol, heroin and ecstasy. The study utilises a broad theory- and research- based framework providing evidence for statistically significant relationships between the outlined 'drug consumption' and sensation seeking (some example refs: Golding, 1987, Zuckerman et al., 1990; Sher et. al. 2000, etc). Your main aim is to investigate potential predictors of weekly cigarette consumption You should consider all potential predictor variables but you are at liberty to select for more detailed consideration those variables which in your judgement are most useful predictors and/or of theoretical interest in this context. Please also ensure that the number of predictor variables used is sensible in terms of the ratio number of participants number of predictor variables. You should use multivariate techniques (e. g. multiple linear regression analysis) as appropriate at some stage in your analysis as well as provide simple descriptive statistics and correlations where relevant.
