Sodium hydroxide, more commonly known as Caustic Soda or simply ‘Caustic', is widely used in the petrochemical industry to neutralize acidic process streams. Caustic, under ambient conditions, is typically not particularly corrosive and can be handled in carbon steel or stainless steel equipment.
