Q. Corrosion Control in Oil-Treating Equipment?

Bitumen provides adequate internal protection for Inlet Slug Catcher, FWKO and Treater. Due to high operating temperature, internal coating is not normally recommended. Also CP system will not perform well due to the bitumen layer that may form on the anode surface.

Over time, water may collect in the bottom of Diluent Tank, Dilbit Tank and Off Spec Storage Tank. Internal coating is a mandatory requirement for floor and lowest 1 meter of shell.
