For this assessment, students must research and analyse two different scenarios. The two scenarios must be chosen from those described below and submitted as one Microsoft PowerPoint file. Students must NOT include any audio or video files. The PowerPoint virtual presentation will not be formally presented. As a result students must endeavour to convey their views and research findings whilst adhering to best presentation practices.
1. Malware Trends
Research and then present the current and future malware that is targeting electronic devices. Students should present the scale and nature of the malware problem and the future implications this has on consumers. Students should assume the reader already has a detailed understanding of the intricacies of malware.
2. Secure File Deletion
There have been significant studies showing that end-users dispose of hard disks, memory cards and USB drives in an inappropriate manner. Research and present the technological, procedural, and awareness issues associated with ensuring proper deletion of confidential data from memory cards.
3. Facebook Privacy
The media has continually scrutinised the privacy issues associated with using Facebook. Research and present the privacy issues associated with Facebook and how these can be mitigated. Demonstrate how vulnerable end-users are leaving themselves by sharing potentially confidential information on the social networking site.
4. USB Drive Insecurity
Lost or stolen USB drives present a serious issue to the owner - especially if the device contained personal or confidential data. Research and present the extent to which USB drives are lost or stolen around the world each year and present solutions which could be utilised to mitigate this issue.
